People taking tirzepatide injections achieved greater weight loss and were more likely to reach weight loss targets compared to those taking semaglutide, according to a study analyzing electronic health records. The study found that 82% of people on tirzepatide reached a 5% weight loss benchmark, compared to approximately 67% on semaglutide. Tirzepatide users were also twice as likely to lose at least 15% of their starting weight. Average weight loss was consistently higher among tirzepatide users at three, six, and twelve months. Both medications mimic the gut hormone GLP-1 to stimulate insulin production.
